
Last year at the Cross Country State Meet, there were no freshmen girls in the Top 25 for the first time since the 2012 season. Don't worry though, because this now Sophomore Class is incredibly tough and has a chip on their shoulders to show that last season's state performance was just a one time thing. Xavery Weisman of Pike Central was the highest placing freshmen at the state meet last year and has already showed her toughness on the state meet course this year placing 5th at the opening Valley Kickoff Invite. Brinkley Cooper of Noblesville (pictured above), returns with the 2nd best 5k time among incoming sophomores. Cooper was also one of only two freshmen to medal in an individual distance event this past track season when she placed 9th in the 800. The other freshmen medalist from the track season was Lila Gillisse of LaPorte.
