Lindsay Welker of Terre Haute North ran 2:13.49 at the New Balance Nationals on Friday to set a new state indoor record breaking the previous best of 2:14.48 by Talia Barwick of FW Northrop back in 1998.
Sectional meets kicked off this week across the state of Indiana. Several teams embarked to Terre Haute, Indiana, the self proclaimed Cross Country Town USA for their chance to head to the regional competition next week and ultimately the state meet.
Many distance runners can agree that we get asked the same questions over and over again: Are you crazy? How many miles do you run a day? Don’t you get bored running all of those miles? The most common question we get asked, however, seems like the most simple question you could ask- Why do you run? Little do non-runners know that the question itself is still one that I struggle to answer every single time I get asked it. Usually, the response is quite long too. Sometimes I even wonder if the person who asked the question listens to the full response.
