Indiana Track and Field concluded Friday and Saturday at the Robert C. Haugh Track and Field Complex at Indiana University Bloomington with state finals.
The rain held out just for in time for regionals to take place in Indianapolis. With 39 schools and 369 athletes slated to compete the night looked stacked and long.
Finally! Good weather for a track meet in Indiana. It may have taken until the week of regionals but good weather has shown up, at least for the girls side. Over on the west side of Indianapolis, Regional 1 was taking place at Ben Davis High School. 18 state standards were hit, with 2 new regional records set as well.
The girls raced on Tuesday, and now it’s the boys turn here on Thursday. With the weather at 87 degrees and the wind at sw 15mph in central Indiana, athletes were competing in weather they haven’t had much time to get accustomed to so far this track season.
32 sectionals in one night. That’s what happens every May in Indiana to kick off the state tournament for high school track and field. The girls race on Tuesday and the boys go on Thursday. There’s more than corn in Indiana, there’s also some pretty fast runners.
The Hoosier Crossroads Conference and records seemed to go hand in hand this week, with the girls starting off the week competing at Fishers HS and the boys rounding it out on Thursday at Zionsville Community HS.
