Solid Competition in the Boys 1600m
Much like the girls field the boys races also look to have quality entrants. The state's leader in the 1600m, Aaron Richter, is set to compete once again after running twice so far this indoor season. He ran a 4:25 up in Michigan before competing in the CYUP Misfits Invite where he would run a 4:22.25 full mile which converts to a 4:20.73 1600m. Richer is coming off a season of dramatic improvement as he placed 5th at the IHSAA state meet. Every race he has had this season has surpassed his best mark of 4:30 at the NIC Championship.
Many participants from the first Warsaw Tiger Showcase return in the 1600m with 7 of the top 10 from that race entered for this weekend. Mason Nobles highlighted that competition as he would run to a 4:26.12 which ranks him second in the state. Marcus Ridge, Hunter Quadlin, and Tyler Mimnaugh would round out the top 5 with a 4:30.03, 4:30.23, and 4:32.09 respectively.
Over 7 heats the meet features 31 boys with sub 5 minute seeds in the 65 athlete field. Check out entries for the top heat below.
