IHSAA Girls Track & Field State Championship Recap

Five athletes score in both hurdle events, headlined by Laila Smith's top-two finishes

Each hurdles event featured different winners but over half of the scorers in the 100-meter high hurdles also scored in the 300-meter low hurdles.

Laila Smith-whose name might sound familiar since she was previously mentioned for her second-place showing in long jump-also placed second in the high hurdles. Smith was able to improve, however, and was the first to cross the line in the low hurdles.

Dede Eberle of Bloomington North took first in the 100-meter hurdles and ninth in the 300-meter hurdles. Other doublers included Eastern Hancock's Isabella Sotelo, Franklin Community's Aubrey Runyon, and Herron's Pa'Shence Purnell.

Jila Vaden and Laila Smith talk about their contributions to Warren Central's state championship title.
