IHSAA Girls Track & Field State Championship Recap

Maya Taylor finishes out fast season with state title in 100-meter dash

Maya Taylor of Fishers came into the state meet with a PR a quarter of a second faster than the next fastest girl but barely eked out a win in a close battle with Warren Central's Jila Vaden. The final differential between the two was just two thousandths of a second.

Avon's Jiah Davenport and Nadia Ford of Carroll (Fort Wayne) got out to fast starts and Vaden was in pole position with less than 50 meters remaining. It was Taylor's strong finish, though, that stole the show and earned her a state championship.

The final also featured two underclassmen: Chesterton sophomore Kenedi Bradley, who finished in fifth place, and freshman Nadia Ford, who was one spot back.
