Conference meets and county championships took place across Indiana this past week, and three field event leaderboards shifted at the top. Here is what moved and who drove it.
HIGH JUMP
Kira Smith of Warren Central cleared 6-1 at the Girls Marion County Championships on May 12, moving to the top of the Indiana girls outdoor high jump leaderboard. The junior entered the 2026 season with a PR of 5-10 and already cleared 6-0 earlier this spring. Her 6-1 clearance is a PR and sits five inches above of the rest of the field. Smith placed third at the Indiana state meet in both 2024 and 2025.
Behind her: Karsyn Buck of Northview cleared 5-8 at the Northview Triangular on May 4, tied for 2nd in Indiana with Callie Alston of Orleans. Rylee Drummond of Elkhart sits 4th at 5-7, cleared on Apr 15. Emma Haston of Columbus North is 5th at 5-6.5, cleared on Apr 23. Five athletes are tied for 6th at 5-6, including Waverly Woolever of Hamilton Heights and Charlotte Dudik of Bishop Chatard.
POLE VAULT
The Carmel HS Hamilton County Girls meet on May 12 reshuffled the top of the Indiana girls outdoor pole vault leaderboard. Amelia Smith of Guerin Catholic and Ella Jenkins of Westfield are tied at the top after both cleared 13-0 at that meet. Smith is a junior who set the Indiana HSR small-school indoor record at 13-3 last season.
Three more athletes moved into the top five on the same day. Addison Martin of Franklin Community cleared 12-6 on May 12 to sit 3rd. Katherine Woebkenberg of Jasper cleared 12-5 at the SIAC Meet on May 12 for 4th. Heather Albrinck of East Central cleared 12-3 at the EIAC Championship on May 12 for 5th.
Behind them: Emma Baker of Northwestern is 6th at 11-6, cleared May 2.
SHOT PUT
Ellyse Walden of Western leads Indiana at 46-6.5, thrown at the Hoosier Conference Track Meet on May 8. She opened the season at 45-3.75 at the Hoosier State Relays in March and has improved from that mark to 46-6.5 over the course of the season. Alexa Walter of Heritage threw 45-11.5 at the ACAC Conference Meet on the same day - May 8 - for 2nd.
Behind them: Carly VonDielingen of Whiteland Community sits 4th at 44-4.5, thrown at the Bloomington North Invite on May 12. Brooklyn King of Jimtown is tied 4th at 44-4.5, thrown at the INSC Meet on May 13. Eva Stokes of Harrison (West Lafayette) is 6th at 44-2, thrown at the Zionsville Invitational on May 1.
