Indiana Boys NXN Recap
After the conclusion of the girls race, the rain intensified, leaving the boys with a heavily torn-up course. Indiana was represented by two qualifiers, Sam Quagliaroli and Noah Bontrager, in this year's competition. Both runners got off to a fast start, going sub-3:00 through the first kilometer, with only a one-second gap and several competitors separating them. Following the first kilometer, Bontrager surged ahead, recording the fastest second kilometer split in the entire field at 3:02.6, gaining 37 positions to move into sixth place. Quagliaroli also made a significant push, passing half the field to climb from 28th to 14th. Over the next two kilometers, the duo ran close to each other, trading positions before losing a few spots in the final kilometer.
At the finish, Bontrager secured one of the final third-team All-American spots (15th-21st), placing 19th with a time of 15:50.4. Quagliaroli fought hard through the last stretch but narrowly missed All-American honors, finishing 22nd in 15:53.4. Despite the challenging conditions, both performances rank among the top 12 times in Indiana boys' history at NXN according to our database. This marks the second consecutive week Bontrager finished ahead of Quagliaroli. Both athletes, along with Liam Bauschke, qualified for Foot Locker Nationals last week in Kenosha, Wisconsin, and will compete next weekend in California.
