Statewide Notable Girls Performances

Macey Thompson has been on an upward trajectory this season. After a massive PR of 1:25 to win the Valley Kick Off, she has continued to win and set new lifetime bests in her following races. Last week, she defeated Dakotah Moore to win the Larry James Invite with a time of 18:38 before nearly breaking the 18-minute barrier this weekend at the Rudy Skorupa Invite, where she ran 18:01.44, earning the fourth fastest 5K time in Indiana this season. The Lake Central girls team appears formidable, with a top four consisting of freshmen and sophomores, including Chloe Neal, Lana Bruggeman, and Aubrey Neal. Mackenzie Smith rounded out the scoring for the team this weekend in one of the best team performances we've seen this season on the girls' side.

At the Marion County Championships, Lucy Wood claimed the title with a time of 18:35.5, fending off Savana Miller and Charlie Fletter, both of whom also finished under 19 minutes. Wood's effort helped the Brebeuf Jesuit team secure the County Championship, defeating North Central 37-48.

At Taylor University, Caterina Perego won for Homestead with a time of 18:36.8, placing her in the top 10 fastest girls' 5Ks this season. Her teammate Lucy Kramer finished second, and impressive depth, with six girls at or under the 20-minute mark, helped Homestead defeat Zionsville 30-45 in another strong team showing.

Other highlights include Lexi Kollbaum winning the Dennis Bays Warrior Invite at Angel Mounds in Evansville with a time of 18:53, Jenna Walker dominating the Tim Adams KV Invite with a time of 19:08, and Hannah Crain winning the Mt. Vernon Invite with a time of 19:15.
