IHSAA Girls Track & Field State Championship Recap

Omema Anyanwu fastest around the track, wins 400-meter race in 56.18

With 27 athletes across three heats competing, the ways of coming away with points for one's team was plentiful.

Omema Anyanwu of Zionsville and Gia Clay of Pike finished first and second overall, with both competing in the third (and fastest) heat. They each had late surges in the final straightaway to overtake Edgewood's Emma Edwards

Edwards used a fast first half-as she was in the lead at 200 meters and had almost completely made up the stagger-to hold on for third in the heat and fourth overall.

Breece Bass showed yet another way, finishing third overall by winning the second heat and dipping under 57 seconds for the first time in her career.

Freshman Anissa Lammie from Hamilton Southeastern, one of the favorites heading in, unfortunately looked to have pulled up with an injury.
