Jordan Randall jumps to easy victory at Defiance
Jordan Randall, a sophomore from Warsaw Community, competed earlier this month at the Defiance College HS Kick-Off Classic. The competition took place in Ohio and featured a slim field of 5 in the high jump. This did not stop Jordan from jumping to a height of 6' 6".
Randall would enter the competition with the bar set at 6 feet and would clear the bar on his first attempt on both the 6' jump and the 6' 2" jump. He would get over the 6' 4" mark on his 3rd effort before clearing the 6' 6" height on his first try. He would attempt 6' 7" with three Xs before concluding the competition. A post on Instagram by James Randall shows Jordan recently clearing 6' 7" at practice at the Warsaw Student Activity Center.
Last season Jordan was able to jump to a height of 6' 9" for both the indoor season and outdoor season at the IWU HSR Qualifier #3 and at the Warsaw Regional to qualify for outdoor state. He was runner-up at the Large School HSR Finals with a jump of 6' 7" and had to compete against the top high jumper in the country last season with Plainfield High School standout Bode Gilkerson. Gilkerson jumped 7' 0" at that meet and now competes for Purdue. With Gilkerson graduated Randall looks to be one of the state's best this year in the high jump.
