College Commitment Review: Where are Indiana Stars Headed?

Throughout the last few months many current Indiana seniors have made decisions choosing the college or university they will attend next year. While that decision may be easy for some, the life changing moment can be tough for others especially during a long cross country season, or track and field offseason.

Today, we are reviewing some of the recent college commitments for Indiana seniors and giving a reminder of where the biggest stars in our state are headed to continue their academic and athletic careers.

Cross Country Stars Head West

The top distance runners in the state on both boys and girls sides are heading west next fall. Recently crowned national champion Kole Mathison of Carmel has committed to the University of Colorado. IHSAA girls state champion Lily Cridge of Bishop Chatard will also be going west and attending the University of Oregon. Park Tudor's Sophia Kennedy, the top Indiana athlete at Team Nationals, has also announced her decision to head west as she will attend Stanford University

Track and Field Athletes Starting to Commit

Many of the distance runners that have committed will also run track, but there have been some top sprinters and field event athletes to make their decisions in the last few weeks. Two top Pole vaulters including the boys defending State Champion have made their commitments. Cody Johnston of Hobart will be heading to Illinois and all-state medalist Kailee Swart from Cathedral has committed to the University of South Dakota. Another Cathedral Track athlete, Sidney Sanders recently made her decision to go to Miami University as a sprinter. 2022 girls shot put runner-up Shelby Wingler of Center Grove will take her throwing talents to the University of Kentucky

Recent Decisions From Indiana Distance Athletes

Matthew Helton of Zionsville just made his decision this past week to go to South Carolina. We saw Kyle Clark of Bloomington North announce he is headed to the University of Illinois. Paige Hazelrigg of Noblesville, who was a part of the team State Champion Millers, will be heading to West Lafayette next year after committing to Purdue University

The above along with many other seniors have made decisions over the last few months. We know that several more will also be making the momentous decision over the next several months, so continue tagging MileSplit Indiana in those social media posts and let us know where you are headed!
