Some of Indiana's top returners by time in the 800m event actually did not compete in that event at the IHSAA State Finals in 2021. Izaiah Steury (Angola), Reese Kilbarger-Stumpff (Columbus North), Kole Mathison (Carmel), and Cole Raymond (LaPorte) all other events last year leaving some intrigue as to what 2022 looks like. Steury is not able to participate this spring and the next three times all have seemed to gravitate to other distances so far.
Daniel Adair (FW Concordia Lutheran) and Nate Killeen (North Central Indianapolis) are the first returners from the state finals. Adair was ninth and Killeen tenth in 2021 in an event that saw eight seniors come across the line before an underclassman.
