Every year, the IATCC awards one male cross country athlete with the "Mr Cross Country" award. For 2020, the recipient of the Mr Cross Country award is Lucas Guerra of Highland High School.
In 2020, Guerra had 8 1st place finishes, including a sweep of the conference, sectional, regional, and semi-state titles. He was 2nd at the IHSAA Cross Country State Championships with a time of 15:34.40. He capped off his senuor XC campaign at the XC Town USA Meet of Champions in Terre Haute with a time of 15:34.10, which was good for 14th place.
Guerra will enter his last track season as a high school athlete, and will look to capture his first state title before heading off to Georgetown University.
