Annalyssa Crain, Edgewood High School Junior, earned herself a trip to two national championships this year. She qualified for Nike Cross Nationals with her sixth place individual finish, right behind Erin Strzelecki. This past weekend, she took fifth place at the Foot Locker Midwest Regional behind a loaded field that featured three other NXN qualifiers.
Crain will represent Indiana and the Midwest this upcoming weekend at Nike Cross Nationals with Strzelecki as well as Zoe Duffus. A week later she will head back to the west coast to compete in the Foot Locker Championships. These two meets will be Crain's first time competing on the west coast and at a national championship event.
She will be the first individual girl to compete at Foot Locker since Phoebe Bates did in 2017, placing 27th overall. She joins a long list of girls to represent Indiana at the National Championship which includes Amy Yoder, Anna Rohrer, Waverly Neer, Celeste Susnis and Alexandria Banfich, along with many other former Indiana greats.
Annalyssa Crain went undefeated this season up until the state meet where she took 2nd to Erin Strzelecki. Crain also currently has no state titles to her name, placing 6th in the 3200 at the 2019 state meet.
