Track Meet Guidelines and Order of Events

Registration on Milesplit: Submit entries in Milesplit no later than noon one day prior to the meet.
Upon arrival at RHS, please report to the press box immediately to turn in an accurate roster that will help us with the announcing of the meet. Your field event competitors will sign in directly with our field event judges at their event. If you have managers or stats persons, they are welcome in the press box during all regular season meets.

BOYS AND GIRLS POLE VAULT WILL BE CONTESTED AT RHS - Girls and Boys will compete simultaneously based on their chosen opening heights.
The second round of field events will begin 10 minutes after the first event has been reported to the press box.

*** No athlete will be excused for a field event for a period to exceed 10 minutes after the conclusion of the event for which they checked out. After 10 minutes, the field judge will declare a scratch and the athlete will have 10 more minutes to report for his/her next try.
FIELD EVENTS:
SHOT PUT, DISCUS, LONG JUMP - 4 ATTEMPTS, NO FINALS (JV 3 attempts)
BOYS HIGH JUMP - Start at 5', raise 2" at a time until 6', then 1" thereafter.
GIRLS HIGH JUMP - Start at 4', raise 2" at a time until 5, then 1" thereafter.
BOYS POLE VAULT - Start at 8, raise 6 at a time until 11, then 3 thereafter.
GIRLS POLE VAULT - Start at 6, raise 6 at a time until 9, then 3 thereafter.
We tend to combine the girls and boys 3200 Meter Relay and 3200 Meter Run, providing the starter and opponents concur.
RHS does not distribute ribbons.

During the 3200 Meter Relay announce: At the conclusion of the 3200 Meter Relay, Rochester athletes please place the hurdles on the track for the Girls 100 Meter Hurdles. The hurdles will be placed at the yellow marks on the track and at the heights that correspond to the yellow tape lines. Be prepared to move the hurdles to the blue marks and blue tape settings after the girls race. | |||||

At the conclusion of the Boys 110 Meter Hurdles, announce: All Rochester athletes, please remove the hurdles. Begin moving them to their positions for the 300 hurdles. Those positions are marked in red on the track. Place the hurdles outside the track, in the rocks, as close as possible to the red marks on the track. Set the height at the lower of the two red tape settings. That setting will be found on the same side of the hurdle as the yellow tape mark. | |||||

The hurdles go on the red marks on the track on the low red tape setting on the hurdle. That is the tape setting on the same side of the hurdle as the yellow marks. | |||||

If needed, we will run exhibition races in the 100 and 200 and 400 (hurdles as necessary, as well) so schools can get times on younger competitors. For throws and jumps, we can accommodate a few throws for kids designated as JV. For example, in a dual, After the six varsity throwers, any additional kids could get two or three throws, depending on the number of kids - If you would like to work in a few JV kids to get measurement, please give us an idea of numbers in advance so we can determine the number of throws that we can reasonably fit into our timetable.

FACILITIES:
The track and runways are rubberized asphalt which require 1/4" spikes or shorter. Please remind your athletes that chalk is NOT to be used on the high jump or long jump runways.
The shot and discus pads are concrete and require flats.
Starting blocks will be furnished by Rochester; likewise, you are welcome to bring your own.
The competition areas are reserved for competitors and coaches only; please remind parents or other inessential personnel to stay in the spectator areas.
Restroom facilities are available at the weight room at the southwest end of the track- West End.
ADMINISTRATION OF THE MEET:
Postponement of the meet due to inclement weather will be made by 2:30 the day of the meet. Once the meet is started postponement is in the hands of the meet starter.
Athletic Director Cal Stone OR his designated meet supervisor will serve as the Meet Director and announcer for the meet. Any protests or conflicts should be first directed to Mr. Stone or his designee in the press box and he will, in turn, contact and confer with the meet starter.
