BLOG TIME. So this past weekend was semi-state, as I’m sure most of you could figure out or probably already knew. Westfield had a mediocre day which is pretty fantastic considering we finished behind Carmel and HSE. THey are wo of the best teams in the state that we know we can hang with and have, and even beaten them.
Kyle had an outstanding showing, but his times weren't too fast due to muddy, slippery, and soaked conditions with a strong wind that seemed to always be in our face. However, Kyle still turned in a big time performance and finished as ‘numba one runnah’ for our team, an ongoing joke on our team. Our lineup was switched up alittle from Regionals, only slightly though. We have our lineup for state decided, but that’s a big secret I’ll only share if you go to the charity 5k starting at 1:00 on December 22nd at Northview Christian Church By then state will be over so it won’t be a secret, but still go.
Personally, i had an average showing. I had some big plans for the race, but kinda got caught up in the action and faded off my plan, which is ok, something to learn. I usually roll with no plan, run off of feel and it works out pretty well because I always know I have more. I haven’t had a collapse race yet. So until I hit the dying of exhaustion point, I usually push people. I’m not much one for slower races. There’s no fun in proving you can beat people running slowly, but thats me. Plenty of people out there I am sure are satisfied coasting for the win. Either way, as long as it gets the goals done I won’t argue.
State is looming, a monolith for everyone in Indiana right now, especially this year with the team field and indidvidual fields wide open. It is more open than anyone has ever been used to. No more is Colombus North a lock for the team title, Futsum running for records and the rest running for second. First places are up for grabs, and there are too many people vying for them, as well as the other honorable finishing spots, to go around. Obviously im predicting a bloodbath; people would be silly not to. Either way, im looking forward to a roaring state meet with big expectations not only for myself, my team, but for Indiana as a whole.
