Future Stars: Four Indiana Underclassmen Step Up This Spring

Jacobi Cooper (15.93 110H), Wilson Hoyer (6-4 HJ), Heather Albrinck (12-3 PV), and Raimi Vawter (12.22 100m) headline a strong week for Indiana underclassmen

BOYS

Jacobi Cooper | Evansville North | So. | 110m Hurdles

Cooper ran 15.93 to place third at the Evansville SIAC Varsity Boys Track and Field Meet on May 14, a PR that ranks him 127th in Indiana across all grades. The nearly one-second drop from his previous best of 16.81 - set in late April - came after a season of steady improvement. He opened at 18.53, ran 17.51 next, then posted a 17.03dual meet PR and conference breakthrough. He also ran 44.10 to win the 300H at the Apr. 28 dual, which ranks 263rd in Indiana across all grades.

Wilson Hoyer | Carmel | Fr. | High Jump

At the Boys Hamilton County meet on May 14, Hoyer cleared 6-4 to place second and set a PR that ranks him 26th in Indiana across all grades. His freshman season has been one of consistent upward progress: he opened at 5-8, cleared 5-10 on Apr. 20, reached 6-0 in May, then added four more inches at the county meet a week later.
