Jacobi Cooper (15.93 110H), Wilson Hoyer (6-4 HJ), Heather Albrinck (12-3 PV), and Raimi Vawter (12.22 100m) headline a strong week for Indiana underclassmen
BOYS
Cooper ran 15.93 to place third at the Evansville SIAC Varsity Boys Track and Field Meet on May 14, a PR that ranks him 127th in Indiana across all grades. The nearly one-second drop from his previous best of 16.81 - set in late April - came after a season of steady improvement. He opened at 18.53, ran 17.51 next, then posted a 17.03dual meet PR and conference breakthrough. He also ran 44.10 to win the 300H at the Apr. 28 dual, which ranks 263rd in Indiana across all grades.
At the Boys Hamilton County meet on May 14, Hoyer cleared 6-4 to place second and set a PR that ranks him 26th in Indiana across all grades. His freshman season has been one of consistent upward progress: he opened at 5-8, cleared 5-10 on Apr. 20, reached 6-0 in May, then added four more inches at the county meet a week later.
GIRLS
In winning the Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference Championship on May 12 with a clearance of 12-3, Albrinck set a PR that ranks her 5th in Indiana across all grades in the pole vault. She cleared 11-6 at her season opener on Apr. 7 and returned to that height multiple times through the spring before her conference PR. Her 2025 outdoor best was 11-3, set at the IHSAA Girls Sectional 24 East Central meet.
Vawter has won every 100m final she has entered this season, and her May 14 dual meet against Bishop Luers produced her fastest time yet - 12.22, a PR that ranks her 21st in Indiana across all grades. She opened the season at 13.11 and worked steadily down: 12.89, 12.51, and 12.76 before her dual meet PR. Her 2025 outdoor best was 12.56, which she has already surpassed by more than three tenths of a second.
