Four Indiana Freshmen and Sophomores Open With Top-10 Marks

King, Ritchie, Mattingly, and McHugh already have state-leading marks

The Class of 2029 and 2028 have put up some of the state's top marks through the first weeks of Indiana's 2026 outdoor season. Aaron King and Preston Ritchie headline the boys side, while Madison Mattingly and Ruth McHugh have opened strong on the girls side.


BOYS

Aaron King | Northridge High School | Fr. | Shot Put

King threw 48-9.5 for second place at Northridge vs. Westview vs. Bremen on Mar. 30, a PR that ranks first among Indiana freshmen in the shot put and is tied for 26th in the state, regardless of grade. At the same meet he also threw 147-6 in the discus, a PR. Indoors this season he threw 43-7.25 to place 11th at the Bulldog Invite 4A-6A Schools Morning Session on Mar. 14.
