Indiana Middle School Girls Indoor Season: Names to Remember

Names to Know from the 2026 Indoor Season

Palermo and Davis headlined a season of state-leading performances across sprints and distance

The Leaderboards

On the track:

Londyn Hill led the 55m at 8.04, Audrey Goldsmith led the 60m at 8.39 and Adele Palermo led the 200m, running 27.28 and the 400m crossing the line in 1:02.00. Adding barriers, Sydney Smith ran 10.94 over the 60m hurdle distance. 

Lillian Weigle was fastest over the 800m, clocking in at 2:29.8. Claire Christie led the 1000m at 3:16.57, while Oakley Davis ran 5:21.14 over 1500m and 11:31.37 over 3000m and Sterling Howard ran to 5:17.89 in the 1600m. Mia Fry  led the mile at 5:09.83 

In the field:

Irene Van Wye led the high jump at 4-5, Ava Johnson led the long jump at 15-7 and Natalie Clark threw a top mark in the shot put at 29-9.50

HP Distance showed up across six events on that leaderboard. Davis (1500m, 3000m), Howard (1600m), Fry (mile), Christie (1000m), and Van Wye (high jump). 

Two Who Stood Out

Adele Palermo | Indiana Future Stars Track Club | Class of 2030 | 200m / 400m

Palermo is from Fort Wayne and competes with Indiana Future Stars. She opened this indoor season at the Midwest High Performance Series on Dec. 13, running 27.55 in the 200m and 1:01.88 in the 400m. She ran nine 400m races across the winter and kept dropping time at nearly every meet. By Feb. 7, she won the 400m at the Midwest High Performance Indoor Meet #3 in 1:00.74. At the 14 & Under National Championship on Feb. 14 she ran 1:02.00 and 27.28. Then at LAB Indoor Meet #11 on Feb. 21 she closed the season with PRs in both events, 26.86 in the 200m and 1:00.21 in the 400m. She ran her fastest times of the season at the last meet of the season. In the 2025 outdoor season she competed at the USATF National Jr Olympic Championships in the 200m and qualified for nationals in the 400m through the Region 7 Junior Olympic Championships, where she ran 27.07w and 1:00.75. 

Oakley Davis | HP Distance | Class of 2033 | 1500m / 3000m

Davis is from Indianapolis and competed with HP Distance this season. In the 2025 cross-country season, she finished fourth at the Cross Country Coaches National Youth Championships on Nov. 22 in the 3000m at 11:55.64. This indoor season she competed in nine different events. She ran the 400m (1:10.92 PR), 600m (1:53.23 PR), 800m (2:37.49 PR at the 14 & Under National Championship on Feb. 14th), 1000m (3:27.98 PR), 1500m (5:21.14 PR, led Indiana middle school girls), mile (5:34.77 PR), 1600m (5:42.41 PR), 3000m (11:31.37 PR at the 14 & Under National Championship, led Indiana middle school girls), and 3200m (11:22.11 PR). 

Nine events. All PRs. She won the 1500m at the 14 & Under National Championship on Feb. 14 and finished second in the 3000m at the same meet.
