As the indoor season wraps up, Indiana's top performers in the 800 meters have separated themselves nationally, while the sprint events show depth in the state. Let's look at the leaderboard through the 800m and highlight performances that matter for postseason positioning.
Girls 800m and Sprints
The standout performance this indoor season is Ellie Barada. Her 2:03.02 ranks No. 2 nationally, trailing only New Jersey's Paige Sheppard (2:02.81). Barada improved consistently through the season, opening her season running 2:10, 2:07, and ultimately 2:03.02. The next closet runner on the state leaderboard was Kenya Leitch, coming in at 2:15.29.
In the 60m and 200m, Nadia Ford leads with times of 7.42 and 24.39. Ford ran 10 indoor 60m races and four 200m races, and added a 40.90 PR over 300m into the mix. Eva Mueller was the only other athlete to dip under 7.80 over the 60m, running 7.77 seconds.
As for the 200m, Ford was the only athlete who ran sub-25 seconds. Chloe Senefeld sits second on the list in 25.02. But it was Senefeld at 56.72, who was the only girl under 57 seconds indoors over 400m.
Indiana's 60m hurdles are led by Isabella Sotelo at 8.73.
Boys 800m and Sprints
Caleb Winders ran a personal best of 1:48.82 at The Circuit-NYC in mid-Feb., which is the only sub-1:49 mark in the country, giving him a clear lead both statewide and nationally. Both him and Barada will be attending the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill in the fall.
