IHSAA Boys Track & Field State Championship Recap

Johnson secures 100m title with ease, doubles back to also win the 200m

Despite timing issues and reruns in the prelims of the 100-meter dash, Bloomington North's Jaidyn Johnson-the pre-race favorite-cruised to a quarter-second victory over the field with a time of 10.34.

Five of the nine sprinters in the finals were juniors, including runner-up Marcus Townsend of Avon. One of the seniors was Concord's Joseph Moon, who finished seventh despite his season best being only 20th among the field of 33.

A number of the athletes also ran in the 200-meter dash and four scored in both. Johnson, most notably, became a double champion when he ran 21.77.

Greenwood Community's William Riley, who was fourth in the 100-meter dash, grabbed second, while Townsend did the reverse, finishing fourth in the 200-meter dash.
