Cameron Todd Runs US #4 3200m at Eastern Indoors 2024

---

Running at the Eastern Indoors meet in Louisville, Kentucky, Brebeuf Jesuit Prep senior Cameron Todd secured a US #4 time in the 3200m after winning the 3200m in a hotly contested race. Todd finished in first just ahead of Will Sheets with a time of 9:00.24.

It was a tumultuous first 800 meters of the race, with many of the 16 boys in the first heat of the race jockeying for position. Todd was able to secure the first position around the 1000m mark and never looked back. Todd was in first place for the rest of the race at every 200m interval from 1000m to the 3200m finish line.

Todd was able to hold off a late charge from Will Sheets who ran the last 400m in 61 seconds, the fastest 400m split of all competitors, but Todd who ran the last 400m in 63 seconds prevailed to the finish line.

The race saw eight runners break the 9:20 mark at the finish line, a mark that would put eight of the boy's finishers in the top 50 3200m times of this indoor season (including converted 2-mile times).

For Cameron Todd this was his indoor debut for the 2023-24 track and field season. In fact, it's only his second indoor race ever (according to our database), after running a 3200m time of 9:24.68 at last year's Roncalli HSR Qualifier

It's quite the start to his senior track and field season with the win and the US #4 time in the 3200m. It's a big season for Todd who will look to win his first Indiana state title(s) for track and field and to break through on the big stage for his first national title after falling just short this past cross country season.

Last outdoor season, Todd finished 2nd in the 1600m and 5th in the 3200m at the Indiana State Championships. He then went on to finish 10th in the mile and 8th in the 2-mile at New Balance Nationals Outdoor.

It's a big season now for Todd, one he will hopefully finish on top with some new hardware.
