Noblesville Girls and Carmel Boys Win Hamilton County Titles

Noblesville, IN - The 2022 Hamilton County Championships took place at White River Elementary on a beautiful, sunny morning in Noblesville, Indiana.

Teams from Carmel, Hamilton Southeastern, Fishers, Westfield, Guerin Catholic and University all joined host Noblesville in the 5k boys and girls races. 

In the boys varsity race, Kole Mathison from Carmel lead the entire race and took the win with a time of 15:07.1, completing the race 25 seconds ahead of teammate and runner up Anthony Provenzano who clocked in at 15:32.9.

Carmel boys head coach, Colin Altevogt said, "This was a great opener for Kole. More importantly than his individual performance, he's excited for his teammates. He was thrilled to see how we finished after him."

The Carmel boys would round out four of the top five finishing spots, adding Charlie Leedke (15:43.1) and Jack Capes (15.43.2) in fourth and fifth place. Sam Quagliaroli  of Fishers placed third with a time of 15:33.7 to break up the Greyhounds. 

Carmel would go on to win the boys team title scoring 19 points. The home Noblesville team took second, scoring 55 points, while Fishers was third with 72 points.

In the girls varsity race, it was a tight bunch of seven running into the mile mark. Nadia Perez, Ansley Applegate and Paige Hazelrigg from Noblesville, Sydney Klinglesmith from Westfield, Jasmine Klopstad from Carmel, Bridget Gallagher from Guerin Catholic and Maggie Powers from Hamilton Southeastern all rounded out the top pack. 

The race spread out over the next two miles where Gallagher took the clear lead to finish first with a time of 18.20.9.

Powers finished in second (18:27.0), Perez in third (18:33.3), Klopstad in fourth (18:42.9) and Applegate in fifth (19:03.8).

By placing their scoring five runners in the top nine finishers, the Noblesville girls took home the trophy with 30 points, achieving a historic finish with their first ever county win.  Carmel finished in second with 69 points, and Hamilton Southeastern finished in third with 73 points. 

After the race, Summer Rempe of the Noblesville girls team said, "It felt amazing, just representing Noblesville with what we do best! We were all so happy. Our coaches congratulated us and said they were proud of us, but didn't make too much of a big deal of it. We have more meets to be looking forward to."
