HSR Results

The girls Small School division of the Hoosier State Relays was nothing short of spectacular- from the team title to the individual finishes. Let's take a look at the event winners and All-State placers.

60m Hurdles

Rachel Mehringer from Forest Park was the expected leader in the hurdles and she did not disappoint. Doubling in the 60mH and the 60m dash, Rachel was put through heavy duty work early in the meet. Mehringer won in 8.90 to best Elizabeth Mitchell from Greensburg who came across the line in 9.05 for second.

60m Dash

Lyric Steele of Charlestown was the individual winner, just edging Kya Crooke from Heritage Christian- 7.67 to 7.79.  Rachel Mehringer, as mentioned, doubled in the 60m and was an outstanding third place overall.

3200m Run

Kendall Martin, Brebeuf, and Bridget Gallagher, Guerin Catholic, staged a great battle for the individual title. Both girls dipped under the 11:00-mark with Martin winning in 10:54 to Gallagher's 10:58. Audrey Knoper from Western Boone came in third with a time of 11:11.

8th - Hadley Gradolf - Brown County

4 x 800m Relay

Guerin Catholic took the title by 5 seconds over FW Concordia with the two coming home in 10:03 and 10:08, respectively. West Lafayette and Wheeler were close behind for third and fourth place.  The two teams came home in 10:11 and 10:17.

8th - Princeton Community 

4 x 200m Relay

In a huge battle for small school sprint bragging rights, Heritage Christian edged Bowman Academy at the line. The teams were only separated by .23 with Heritage Christian winning in 1:45.67. Edgewood, West Lafayette, Hamilton Heights, and Wheeler were also barely separated for a huge race for third through sixth. All teams came home in 1:51. It was Edgewood in 1:51.66 for third and Wheeler 1:51.96 for 6th.

4 x 400m Relay

Bishop Chatard won a convincing race in the girls 4x400m relay.  Their winning time of 4:06.53 outdistanced West Lafayette by five seconds for the title. Wheeler was just behind in 4:14.40. Wheeler stayed clear of fourth place Heritage Christian by two seconds.

8th - Corydon Central

Pole Vault

Abby Ballengee, Barr-Reeve, was the individual champion with a fine vault of 10-09 to out-height Taylor Standridge of Hamilton Heights. Standridge vaulted 10-06 for runner-up. Gabbi Zeilenga of Covenant Christian and Kate Weigand of Park Tudor rounded out the top four, respectively. The two vaulted 10-03 and 10-00 to gain the All-State honors. Neva Harke, Herron, Kait McAlexander, Woodlan, Missy Riegle, Muncie Burris, and Taylor Roesler, Maconaquah, all vaulted 9-06 to round out the All-State positions, all tying for fifth place.

High Jump

Kya Crooke, Heritage Christian, added to her outstanding meet by winning the high jump in a fine 5-06 to win by three inches over Christina Lamb, Cascade, and Paige Laffoon, Seeger. The pair jumped 5-03 to earn All-State honors.

Long Jump

Kya Crooke, Heritage Christian, won another event by outdistancing Rachel Mehringer of Forest Park, another athlete with an outstanding night. The two jumped 17-09.50 and 17-01, respectively. Kaylin Cobb, Thea Bowman, tied Mehringer but lost on jumps.

Shot Put

Savannah Nesmith, Brebeuf, handly won the event by nearly a foot with a toss of 38-08.5. Nesmith bested Kennedy Jackson of Rochester who threw 37-11.75. Sydney Duncan from Frankton was close third with a toss of 37-08.75. Very close behind were Emarie Jackson, Greensburg, and Gwen Howard from Whitko. They threw 37-05.75 and 37-04.75 each.
