Several Distance Runners Produce Fast Paces Recently

With the snow and ice covering Indiana, and the cancellation of at least one Indiana meet this weekend, there were still several distance runners who managed to produce some fast times this past weekend.

Izaiah Steury, Angola, and Kole Mathison, Carmel, both competed at the Meyo Invitational held at Notre Dame this past weekend in the Ryan Shay 3000m. Steury finished in 8:08.32 against the mostly collegiate field. This earned him a sixth place finish overall. Mathison, a junior, was not too far behind. Mathison finished in 8:27.53- good for 16th place in the event.

Bailey Ranta, Chesterton, turned in an amazing performance at SPIRE Scholastic Showcase in Ohio. Ranta turned in a 4:54.08 performance in the 1600m race to finish fifth. Just behind her was Valparaiso's Kaylie Politza. Politza ran a strong double of 5:01.48. She also doubled with a fine 2:11.98 in the 800m race as well.

This performance also goes along with her recent 2:09.18 / 4:58.95 double at the MITS Grand Valley State University Indoor series meet. The 2:09.18 is listed as the fasted indoor time for an Indiana high school girl ever- although indoor records are not officially recognized by the IHSAA>

We have been very busy at the start of the year and with the IATCCC clinic this past weekend, there have been results missed. If you are not finding your results on your profile or in the state rankings, please feel free to fill out the form linked here. You MUST include a link to your results and all information on the form to have the results included!  It's not that we do not believe you- but we must verify and get the results into our system first.
