The debate is always fierce on social media as to which Semi-State is the best. Each Semi-State has its detractors and loyal supporters- just ask New Prairie and their already-started thread for 2025 on another message board!
But which Semi-State reigned supreme in 2021?
Here are some numbers:
- Girls Podium Teams: Shelbyville - 2, Brown County - 1, New Prairie - 1, New Haven - 1
- Boys Podium Teams: Shelbyville - 2, NH- 2, BC - 1, NP - 0
- Girls Top 10 Teams: Shelbyville - 4, NH - 3, BC - 2, NP - 1
- Boys Top 10 Teams: Shelbyville - 5, NH - 4, BC - 1, NP - 0
- Girls Individual Medal Winners: Shelbyville - 7, BC - 5, NH - 4, NP - 4
- Boys Individual Medal Winners: NH - 8, Shelbyville - 6, BC - 5, NP - 1
- Team State Champions: BC - 1, Shelbyville - 1
- Individual State Champions: BC - 1, Shelbyville - 1
So when you combine both genders- who was overall stronger? The Indy area has more population. Two of the state's biggest schools, each in Hamilton County, no longer attend that Semi-State.
