All the attention in the 800m/1600m world this track season will likely be focused on the 800m elite runners and Addy Wiley from Huntington North- and rightfully so. Wiley ran a postseason 4:38 incredible run in the full mile at the RunningLane Track Championships in June. That paced the nation in 2021.
However, you cannot sleep on the field as Sophia Kennedy, Park Tudor, fresh off a Top 10 finish at the Eastbay National Cross Country Championships, owns a sub-4:50 time and Nicki Southerland, Delta, is knocking on that door as well. Oh- Kaylie Politza from Valparaiso is pretty good as well. What about Karina James (Lowell) and the state champion in the 3200m and cross country- Bishop Chatard's Lily Cridge?
This is going to be a record year for the girls on the track.
