Hoosier South Relays Meet #3 Race Video

It was a beautiful day for racing in Southern Indiana on Saturday, and New Albany hosted one of the season's first major outdoor meets with the third Hoosier South Relays. The day featured impressive performances from Seniors Camden Marshall and Kamyren Garrett, and a Floyd Central girls team that was nearly untouchable on the track.

The day began with the 4x800 meter relay. North Central dominated the boys race to take the win with a time of 8:17, twenty seconds ahead of two teams from Floyd Central. The script was flipped on the girls side. Floyd Central took the lead midway through the race and never looked back on their way to winning in a time of 9:49; ahead of a pair of North Central teams.

Camden Marshall led wire to wire in the boys 5K to take a convincing win for Corydon Central. Marshall, a cross country semi-state champion and Indiana University commit, finished nearly 45 seconds clear of his closest competitor as he crossed the line in 15:08. Aidan and Aaron Lord out of New Albany came second and third, each finishing in 15:50

Floyd Central's Jaydon Cirincione won the girls race with a time of 18:22, also 45 seconds ahead of second place. Crothersville's Kaylyn Holman and Corydon Central's Addison Applegate rounded out the top three.

Floyd Central's Zac Hutslar ran a 52.03 to top the field of forty-five runners in the boys 400. Lawrence Central's Emani Washington, Austin's Xavier Rahe, and Floyd Central's Aaron Satkowski finished just over a second behind Hutslar.

New Albany took the 4x400 meter relay title with a time of 3:32, finishing just ahead of teams from Lawrence Central and North Central. Floyd Central continued their dominance of the girls relays as they took the win in 4:11, a few seconds ahead of North Central and a second team from Floyd Central.

Josiah Green of North Central took top honors in both the shot put and the discus throw. Green earned marks of 53-01 and 154-01. Heritage Christian Freshman Luke Himes was a close second in both categories.

Girls discus and shot put went to Errika Hill out of Shenandoah. Hill dominated both events with marks of 119-03 and 43-05. Hill is the reigning state champion in the shot put after winning as a sophomore in 2019 with a mark of 44-02.

Lawrence Central's Kamyren Garrett won the high jump by more than a foot as the Senior cleared 7-0. That height would have been enough to win the state championship in 2019, an event in which Garrett finished fourth. Garrett finished second to teammate Chrisean Jones in the long jump, who won with a distance of 20-09.

The girls high jump went to Corydon Central's Madison Schilmiller with a mark of 5-0, and Tara Cofie earned a 15-06.5 to take the win for Jeffersonville in the long jump.
