2020 IHSAA Regional Previews: 5-8

Regional 7 - Marion

The Marion Regional will be run at Indiana Wesleyan University, and should feature two tight races for the team championships.

Bellmont, Oak Hill and Huntington North are the top teams in the boys race. Bellmont won the sectional they hosted last week, while Oak Hill edged Huntington North by four points in the Marion sectional. Wabash could also make some noise if they have a good day, the Apaches were only one point behind Oak Hill last week. Expect New Haven to take the last transfer spot in this one.

Fort Wayne South Side and Huntington North both won their girls sectionals last week, and should have a tight race for the title in this regional. Norwell and Oak Hill won't be far behind as they fight for third and fourth. Woodlan would be expected to take fifth, though Adams Central and Eastbrook could challenge for that last transfer spot. Look for a gaggle of Adams Central and Eastbrook runners midpack.

Southwood's Braden Sweet won the Marion sectional by over twenty seconds on his way to a season best 16:06. He will now have to contend with three runners from Bellmont, Jordan Garlinger, Deion Guise and Isaac Fuelling, for the regional title.

Addison Wiley of Huntington North and Norwell's Lauren Bales are the only girls in this race that ran under 19:00 last week, and both won their sectionals comfortably. Look for a tight race between Wiley and Bales in this regional.

The cannon will go off at 10:30 AM Eastern Time.
