One of the biggest surprises from a jammed pack weekend of XC action in the Hoosier state was the performance by Homestead freshman Addison Knoblauch.
During her middle school years Knoblauch earned PB's of 11:06 for 3K and 15:26 for 4K. She took home 10th at the 2018 Indiana Middle School State Cross Country Championships. On the track, Knoblauch ran PB's of 5:36 over 1600m and 9:03 for 2400m which came at the Indiana Middle School State Championship last year.
Then there was yesterday. At the Huntington North Invitational, Knoblauch stuck with Zoe Duffus, who is an individual state title contender, throughout most of the race. The two were shoulder to shoulder through mile's 1 and 2 but Duffus would eventually pull away from Knoblauch crossing the line in 18:08.4 with Knoblauch in 2nd with a time of 18:18.4
Knoblauch definitely opened some eyes yesterday and someone we will have to keep our eyes on throughout the season. Her next race will be at the Penn Invitational, which is set to take place this upcoming weekend!
