Boys
For the fourth and final time, Jack Kovach and Alex Frey will go head to head in the Marion County Championships. In head to head matchups, these two are even with 7 wins a piece, most recently with Kovach topping Frey at the FlashRock Invite. This weekend's match up should be as exciting as ever, as both guys will be the main focus for the front of the race and will look to make it a battle across the line. Low 15's don't seem out of reach for these two either, as they both have season best thus far in 15:18(Frey) and 15:20(Kovach). With a drop in the temps, we should get to see some high quality racing from everyone. Not too far behind these two, we should see Krishna Thirunavukkara, Kovach's teammate, Shellenberger from Southport and likely Keith Bye and Bennett Dubois rounding out that top group.
The team race here looks to be one for the home team, Brebeuf, as they look to score their top 5 within the top 20 places. The fight for second can very well depend on Franklin Central's 4 and 5 having strong days, as they square off with North Central. Trailing behind these three look to be Southport, Ben Davis and Lawrence North for the 4-6 placements.
Girls
The duo to be reckoned with from Brebeuf, Zoe Simmons and Madeline Keller will look to own this race on their home course. They won't need to put down lifetime bests to snag those 1-2 points, but they will likely need 18:30 and faster to see no competition with them. The individual battle for spot 2-5 may be the most exciting part here as Brianna Lawson, Jessica Velez and Sophia Kennedy should all be right with each other most of the way.
This team battle will be a nail bitter all the way through, as Brebeuf and North Central both come in with strong squads who will finish very close in the scoring with each other. The key factor for North Central here will be how tight their pack 1-5 should be; they all have the potential to finish top 15. For the lady Braves, things may really come down to their No. 5 runner and performing at the top of her game this weekend. Pike and Franklin Central look to duke it out for that 3-4 finish, with Lawrence North in a good position for 5th.
