2019 Milesplit Indiana Power Rankings: Week 1

Girls:

Small School:

1. Indianapolis Bishop Chatard

Bishop Chatard has some strong performances at the Lawrence Central HSR Qualifier last Friday. They swept the 4x200 and 4x400 relays with some solid times. Beth Barnes won the 60mH. Don't be surprised to hear her name as the season goes on.

2. Brebeuf Jesuit

It was a tough call on who should get the number 1 spot for this week, but it was between Bishop Chatard and Brebeuf Jesuit. We like what Brebeuf Jesuit has put together in the distance scene. They have a solid 3,200 squad consisting of Madeline Keller, Kate Ricks, and Zoe Simmons.

3. West Lafayette

They had some solid performances at the WL Individuals last Friday. They had a strong throwing performance thanks to Ashley Weatherly and Alaina Omonode. They also had put up some good times 60m and 60m H.

4. Calumet

Calumet hasn't shown much so far this season. Obviously as the season goes on, the times will drop. Calumet ran at the Indian Open and had some strong performances by their sprinters.

5. Hamilton Heights

Hamilton Heights layed down some solid times in the 4x200 and 4x400. They also put together a solid 4x8 squad and ran a 10:18 at the IWU HSR Qualifier #2. It's still to early to really know what they're capable of but as of now they look like a solid team.

Large School:

1. Fishers

Fishers has had a great start to the season. Tamia Perryman and Ella Scally have had some impressive times to start the season. The Fisher 4x200, 4x400 and 4x800 relay teams have also put down some good times. We give Fishers the edge over Hamilton South because they have a strong field event team.

4. Hamilton Southeastern

Hamilton South has IN #1 in the 4x200, 4x400, and 4x800. That's impressive considering the season is just getting started. As the season goes on, Hamilton South will be a name you hear all season and don't be surprised to see them at #1 sooner than later. HSE also has Kennedy Drish in the pole vault which will be important in team scoring come the end of this month and in June.

3. Warren Central

It's still too early to know what Warren Central is capable of but we know that they'll be in the conversation for a state title later this year. Right now their power lies in the hands, well my the legs, of senior Prommyse Hoosier who is looking to qualify for the Olympic Trials in the long jump and also has some good speed to help in their relays. Last year, they came out with a 3rd place finish.

4. North Central

As with Warren Central, it's too early to know what North Central is capable of. They've ran at a few meets this year, and there has been some solid performances by their distance team. Their sprints tend to be pretty solid, and they have a new addition of freshman Ramiah Elliott who has been a star for years now in the AAU and USATF scene.

5. Zionsville

Zionsville looks to be a good this year. They ran at the Indiana Runner Sprint Showcase. They put down a solid time in the 4x200. As the season goes on, the times will drop and Zionsville should send some ladies to state. Their biggest blow in terms of team scoring was losing Katie Isenbarger to college, but Ella Robinson has already started to fill those shoes on the track.
