Boys Varsity Race
The boy's varsity race will provide plenty of action up front. Gabriel Sanchez and Lucas Guerra are the two front runners to win this race, but only one can come up on top. Sanchez ran a 16:13 here last year on a fast Lowell course, but looks to best that time this year. These guys are the best in the conference, and should be battling throughout the race. Other guys to look up for up front our Dustin Hudak, Ben Salinas, and Bryan Cherry. On the team side, Lowell and Highland look evenly matched. At the New Prairie Invite, Lowell edged out Highland by 8 points for the team championship. This meet looks to be another 1-2 finish for both teams, but only one can leave with the NCC Championship trophy. We should get a good look on how fast both teams really are, and there chances to hoist the semi-state trophy later this season.
Girls Varsity Race
This race is going to be competitive throughout the race. Jordyn Boyer has now returned from a summer of USA Track and Field racing. She looks to contend her conference title from last year, but she won't be alone. The James sister's from Lowell should be up front, battling for a top 5 finish. Other girls to look for up front are Holly Shaginaw, Sydney Kramer, and Hannah Robbins. On the team side, Lowell looks to repeat as the NCC Champions. They have a strong top 7, and could place all 7 in the top 20. Munster finished second behind Lowell, and have a few runners that could pressure Lowell. The team is led by freshman Hannah Robbins, and junior Maria Blaesing. Look for both to be towards the front battling for those valuable points.
