Carmel competed in today's 32nd Annual Culver Academies Cross Country Invitational and won with 57 points. Additional teams in the Boys Varsity Elite Division included Columbus North (85), Mason OH (167), Illiana Christian (178), Lyons Township (206), West Lafayette (224), Bloomington North (236), Westfield (253), Northridge (289), Ft. Wayne Carroll (297), Warsaw (303), Crown Point (318), Valparaiso (329), Munster (352), Sycamore OH (365), North Central (416), South Adams (442), Lake Central (486), Portage (509), Carroll OH (518), Homestead (536), Concordia Lutheran (544), Downers Grove South (589) and Lawrence Central (667). Individual winner was Zach Panning of Concordia Lutheran in 15:26.0. Running for Carmel were Robert Browning (3rd in 15:49.3), Ben Veatch (4th in 15:50.4), Ben Anderson (11th in 16:06.7), Josjua Horowitz (18th in 16:14.4), Michael George (24th in 16:21.2), Daniel Sechuga (54th in 16:52.0), Alexander Cashbaugh (56th in 16:52.5) and Collin McMahon (62nd in 16:57.1).
Carmel also won the Boys Freshman/Sophomore Race with 41 points over 23 other teams. Individual winner was Carmel's Thomas Revard in 16:15.5 with additional Carmel runners including Zac Leinheiser (2nd in 16:23.4), Jonah Nochol (11th in 17:13.3), Drew Watson (12th in 17:13.8), Conor Lyons (15th in 17:28.0), Kenji Tomozawa (22nd in 17:40.7), Teddy Browning (28th in 17:43.8), Bryan Miller (30th in 17:46.6), Matt Croaning (33rd in 17:49.9) and Evan Bouillet(44th in 18:02.5).
In the non-scored Reserve Race Carmel's Zach Horowitz lost in a photo finish to Mason's Tommy Stewart 16:54.1 to 16:54.2. Additional Carmel runners included Andrew Kalthoff (5th in 17:07.6), Michael Lukovic (9th in 17:11.4), Jordan Ehrlich (22nde in 17:30.1), Elijah St. Angelo (33rd in 17:44.0), Andrew Trachtman (44th in 17:54.4) and Dylan Horowitz (54th in 18:04.0).
Carmel will next compete in the MIC Meet at Ben Davis on Wednesday October 9, 2013.
