The 2010 track and field campaign begins on January 9 for Indiana, as the Hoosiers will host the Indiana Open in Gladstein Fieldhouse. The open is the first of four straight home meets for IU, and the Hoosiers will host five indoor meets in 2010. The meet saw the Hoosiers post three provisional qualifications in 2009. Indiana returns eight All-Americans from the 2008-09 campaign, including seven from the indoor season.

The University of Louisville track and field team will start the New Year off by traveling to Bloomington, Ind. on January 9, 2010 for the Indiana Open at the Harry Gladstein Fieldhouse. The start time for the field events will begin at 11:30 a.m. ET and conclude at 2:45 p.m., while the track events will start at 11 a.m. and finish around 3:30 p.m.
After nearly a month break from its first meet of the season, the University of Cincinnati women's indoor track and field squad is back in action this weekend when it competes at the Indiana Open in Bloomington, Ind. The meet will take place at the Gladstein Fieldhouse on Saturday, Jan. 9, with track events beginning at 11 a.m. and field events starting at 11:30 a.m.
Indiana track and field started off the indoor season with gusto at the Indiana Open. Four Hoosiers posted the best marks in Division I this season. Sophomore Derek Drouin posted an NCAA automatic qualifying mark, the best on U.S. soil this season. Junior Faith Sherrill posted the NCAA's best mark with a huge toss in the shot put, breaking an IU record that stood for 18 years in the process. Seniors Jeff Coover and Molly Beckwith posted NCAA-best marks in the pole vault and 800 meters respectively.
The University of Louisville men's and women's track and field teams kicked off the new year with four event titles, four NCAA Championships provisional qualifying marks and one school record on Saturday at the Indiana Open. The meet was held at Harry Gladstein Fieldhouse on the campus of Indiana University in Bloomington.
The University of Louisville received three of the four BIG EAST weekly track and field honors on Tuesday. Redshirt senior Jere' Summers was named BIG EAST Female Field Athlete of the Week, redshirt senior Andre Black earned BIG EAST Male Field Athlete of the Week and freshman Howard Shepard III collected BIG EAST Male Track Athlete of the Week.
Derek Drouin and Faith Sherrill set the bar for the nation at the Indiana Open, posting marks that lead the country this season, and the Big Ten Conference has taken notice. The conference named Drouin and Sherrill the Big Ten Field Athletes of the Week for the week of January 2-8. Sherrill set a Big Ten record with one of the best throws ever by a collegiate athlete and Drouin narrowly missed tying the Big Ten high jump record. Drouin wins his second weekly conference honor and Sherrill takes her third. This is the second straight season that Drouin and Sherrill have garnered the honors after the first meet of the season.
