Salute To Seniors: Mitch Hubner - LaPorte

What was your most memorable race?

I would have to say my most memorable race would have to be cross state this last season. Getting to compete right up with all the other top runners in the state let me compete at my best.

Out of all of your high school accomplishments which stands out the most?

It's a combination of cross state and track state this year Even though I did better placing for cross state, in track I really improved in the mile and then came back with a solid 800.

If you could do it all over again what would you change about your running career in high school?

I wouldn't change a thing! I love my team, my coaches, and everything about Laporte cross country and track!

What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome?

I would say my biggest obstacle was just becoming a better racer. I have had the speed to compete, but not the skills to win until the beginning of my junior year.

What will you miss the most?

I will miss the team and the coaching staff. Without those two components I might not have ran in high school.

Do you have any advice for younger athletes?

A little advice, be yourself! Go out and shine on the track or course. Be friendly to everyone and you will make friends with many people and have friends for the rest of your life.

What are your college plans?

I will be joining the IUPUI Jaguars next year.

Who would you like to say thank you to?

I would like to give a big thanks to my family how has been there all the way from my first steps, my coaches who have formed me into the runner I am today, my teammates for running with me and always being there for me, and all the people who have followed my running from the beginning to now. Without all mentioned above, I wouldn't be the runner/person I have came to be today.
