SENEFELD FINISHED SECOND AT STATE LAST SPRING. SHE CAME BACK BETTER
Let's dive into the program
Last June, Chloe Senefeld finished second at the IHSAA Girls State Track and Field Meet in the 300 hurdles at 42.62. A week later she won the Midwest Meet of Champions in the event at 43.35. Two weeks after that she was at Nike Outdoor Nationals stepping up to the 400 hurdles and finishing ninth at 1:00.75.
This spring she is first in Indiana in the 300 hurdles at 41.44, a PR she ran at IHSAA Sectional 16 on May 20, and has won every 300 hurdle final she has entered.
Anissa Lammie has a version of the same story from a different event. She finished second at IHSAA Girls State in the 400 last June at 55.37, then went to Nike Outdoor Nationals and ran 55.60. This spring she ran a PR of 54.73 at IHSAA Regional 4 on May 26, 2nd in Indiana -- a junior who has been running the 400 since she was winning middle school state championships in 2023. Her career spans from a 1:00.03 in a 2021 junior high meet to 54.73 at regionals this spring.
(It's worth mentioning Senefeld and Lammie ran the mixed 4x400 relay together at Nike Outdoor Nationals last June.)
Liam Powers went to Nike Outdoor Nationals, too. He raced the 5000 and currently is 28th in the state in the 1600 at 4:17.89 from the Distance Showcase on Apr 17. He was 9th at IHSAA Boys State in the 3200 last spring at 9:06.57 and second at the Midwest Meet of Champions at 9:31.39.
Sam Long ran a 16.85 in the 110 hurdles in 2024. This spring he is 8th in Indiana in the event at 14.15, run at the Hamilton County Boys Invitational on May 14, and 8th in the 300 hurdles at 38.28 from IHSAA Sectional 16 on May 21. He went to the Midwest Meet of Champions last summer and finished 7th in the 110 hurdles and 6th in the 300 hurdles. He went to the USATF Region 7 Junior Olympic Championships in the 400 hurdles and finished third at 55.77. Last spring he was 23rd at IHSAA Boys State in the 300 hurdles.
The roster has depth beyond those four. Omar Elsayed (2026) is 12th in Indiana in the 800 at 1:53.30. Zoe Gebhart (2027) is 16th in the 3200 at 10:41.06 and 21st in the 1600 at 4:59.92. Isaac Smith (2027) is 16th in the 3200 at 9:10.63. Kaleah McCarter (2028) is 24th in Indiana in the 100 at 12.18. William Henning (2026) is 30th in the 800 at 1:55.63. Riley Williams (2026) pole vaults 11-0, 15th in the state.
