Last year Cameron Bryant of Clark-Pleasant Middle School ran 12.12 in the 100m, 25.67 in the 200m and 55.05 in the 400m. This spring at the Indiana Middle School Track State Finals on May 23 he won all three events, and quite a bit faster.
His 400m of 51.42 and 200m of 23.05 now lead Indiana. He dropped nearly a full second in the 100m, more than two and a half seconds in the 200m and more than three and a half seconds in the 400m in one year.
His 23.05 in the 200m came in the prelims - he ran 23.09 in the finals to win. His 400m of 51.42 came in the state finals. His 100m season best is 11.18 from the Jr. Mid-State Conference on May 13, which sits 2nd in Indiana behind Brayden Helmberger of Eastern MS (Greentown), who ran 11.12 in prelims at the Southwood Invitational on Apr 25. Helmberger's April mark still leads the leaderboard.
Tristen Barber of Lakeview MS is another name worth noting from state. He ran 23.23 to finish 2nd in the 200m and 52.60 to finish 3rd in the 400m. Beckett Garry of International School of Indiana was 3rd in the 200m in 23.36. Levi Lettenberger of Maple Creek MS was 4th in 23.59. Miles Soehngen of Riverside Junior High sits 2nd in the Indiana 400m at 52.33, run at the Hamilton County MS Championships on May 21. Isaiah Thompson of The Oaks Academy is 4th at 52.70 from the Indiana State MS Regional on May 16.
Brantley Blair of Oak Hill also competed at state and ran 4:18.38 in the 1600m to improve his previous season best of 4:22.15. He won and leads Indiana in the event. The 800m at state produced the three fastest marks of the season - Andyn McClane won in 2:02.10, Emmett Glenn of Bellmont MS was 2nd in 2:02.57 and Neil Dougherty of Franklin Community MS was 3rd in 2:02.84.
