Leon Fountain (48-8.75 SP), Boston Lee (16.14 110H), Kelsey Lewis (12.73 100m), and Ella Ventrone (15.33 100H) headline Indiana underclassmen.
BOYS
At the Hendricks County Championships on Apr. 28, Fountain put 48-8.75 to place seventh - a mark that ranks 87th in Indiana across all grades and represents a more than five-foot jump from where he stood a week earlier. He opened the season at 43-6 at the Avon vs Plainfield and Mooresville dual on Apr. 7, held at 43-6.5 through two meets on Apr. 21, then added five feet at the county championships. His indoor best was just 34-7.25, set at the Whiteland HSR Qualifier on Mar. 13. He's come a long way and has two more outdoor seasons to build on this solid foundation.
Lee has cut more than a second from his season opener over the course of four meets. He ran 17.37 at the Stargazer Invitational on Apr. 10, 17.50 at the Eastern @ Brownstown Central dual on Apr. 14, then dropped to 16.83 at the Sam Sumner Invitational on Apr. 18 before running 16.14 to place third at the Paul Scifres Track Invitational on Apr. 30. The 16.14 ranks him 138th in Indiana across all grades in the 110m hurdles. Lee also cleared 5-6 in the high jump and posted 18-5.75 in the long jump at the Apr. 14 dual.
GIRLS
Lewis has only two 100m marks on file this season, and the gap between them is notable. She ran 13.58 to place fifth at the Richmond/Anderson/Muncie Central tri-meet on Apr. 14, then dropped to 12.73 to place fifth at the Hauser Home Meet on Apr. 30. The 0.85-second improvement over 16 days also came alongside a 27.49 in the 200m at the same meet. Her 2025 outdoor best was 13.70, set at the Rushville, Hauser, Richmond dual on May 1, 2025.
Ventrone opened the outdoor season at 17.28 at the Zionsville vs HSE dual on Apr. 21, ran 16.07 at the Dennis McNulty Invitational on Apr. 24, then cleared 15.33 to place third at the Zionsville Invitational on May 1. The 15.33 ranks her 26th in Indiana across all grades in the 100m hurdles. Ventrone has also been productive in the 300m hurdles, posting a season-best of 44.81 at the Dennis McNulty Invitational on Apr. 24, which ranks 7th in Indiana across all grades.
