Waverly Woolever has been jumping since she was five years old, and the same coach has been in her corner since seventh grade. As a freshman she won the USATF Junior Olympic 15-16 high jump title at Hayward Field in Eugene. She returned the next year... and the year after that, collecting sectional, county, and conference titles, breaking her own school records, and working her way onto the IHSAA state podium twice. Last spring she finished 5th at the state meet, cleared a school-record 5-8 at the Midwest Meet of Champions two weeks later, and placed 7th at New Balance Nationals Outdoor. By the fall she had signed to Bowling Green State. 

One meet into her senior outdoor campaign, she has cleared 5-6 to lead Indiana and ran a PR of 48.12 in the 300 hurdles, sitting 2nd in the state. She is a senior who has been a consistent performer for years, with her sights set on a final IHSAA podium finish.

But the Woolever story is not the only one worth telling out of Arcadia this spring.

Last May, Lilly and Maddy Higgins were running middle school meets. Lilly's best 800m was 2:34.32, set at the MIC MS Meet. Maddy's was 2:48.07. Their 4x800 relay team broke the school record at 10:25.56. They were freshmen-to-be, getting ready for a new chapter.

On Mar 20 at the Lebanon dual, that chapter started. Lilly ran 2:20.76 in the 800m, a personal record that places her 1st in Indiana, and Maddy ran 2:25.97, the 2nd fastest time in the state so far. 

Norah Reiger (2027) has kicked off her junior year in a big way. She ran 57.15 in the 400m at the same meet, a time that currenly leads Indiana, and 25.46 in the 200m, which ranks her 2nd in the state. She ran 26.39 in the 200m prelims at the IHSAA Girls Sectional last spring. 

The rest of the roster at Hamilton Heights adds to it. Jacoby Woolever (2028) has run 43.52 in the 300 hurdles and leaped 19-11 in the long jump. Reagan Van Kirk (2029) has cleared 5-0 in the high jump and run 18.85 in the 100 hurdles as a freshman. Allie Bushey (2027) has run 2:30.65 in the 800m. Grace Reynolds (2028) has cleared 8-6 in the pole vault. Anna Monnin (2026) has run 1:04.34 in the 400m. Jackson Cantlon (2026) has cleared 5-8 in the high jump on the boys side. Ben Butor (2028) has thrown 123-8 in the discus.

The IHSAA postseason is months away, but Hamilton Heights has already given plenty of reasons to keep watching before we get there.
