Team Indiana competed this morning at the Mid-East XC Championships in Kettering, Ohio with "all-star" senior teams from Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Indiana historically attending the meet. In this year's edition it was a three way battle with Team Indiana taking on Team Michigan and Team Ohio with 36 runners in the field for both the boys and girls races.
Girls Race
The girls race would start the day with Michigan dominating up front. That squad of girls would run 1-7 to earn a perfect score of 15 plus two pushers to further expand their margin of victory. Leading them and taking the race win was standout Jessica Jazwinski with a time of 17:48.17. Jazwinski was a FootLocker Nationals finalist last year where she would nab a top ten finish in ninth.
Hamilton Southeastern's Elizabeth Butler would lead team Indiana with a 9th place finish at 18:32.12 finishing behind Michigan's front seven and Ohio's top runner in 8th. Sawyer Dewitt (10th), Savannah Miller (13th), Riley Flynn (22nd), and Ashlynn Myers (23rd) would round out the scoring for Team Indiana. The team race for second would be fierce with Team Ohio ultimately getting the nod for second place with their first five crossing ahead of Team Indiana. The margin of defeat would be five points with Team Ohio getting 61 points for 2nd and Team Indiana obtaining 66 points for third.

Boys Race
The boys race would follow immediately after the girls and would feature several more Indiana natives up front with Ohio's Ty Rosengarten taking the tape with a time of 15:39.19. Ty took home a top three finish two weeks ago at the Ohio Division II State Championship at Fortress Obetz.
Portage's Shane Conroy wound up being the first Indiana runner to cross the line with a runner-up finish in 15:41.74. This would be a bounce back race after his disappointing 64th place finish two weeks ago at state. Conroy would have Zane Meyer (4th), Kraedyn Young (5th), Mason Nobles (9th), and Evan Farmer (11th) to support him in the scoring five. The team race would be a close one with a battle between Team Indiana and Team Ohio for the win. Through three runners both teams would have 11 points with the biggest point differential for the win for the boys coming at the fifth runner spot as Evan Farmer would finish 4 spots ahead of Ohio's fifth runner. Jackson Klinger and Carson Brown would ensure this cushion with their 12th and 13th place finishes essentially adding 2 points to Ohio's fifth runner. Without these two the Indiana boys would have only won by a single point.
