It's been an exciting last few weeks so far, as the best in the world have gathered in Paris, France for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Especially for Cole Hocker (Cathedral High School 2019), who can now be dubbed as an Olympic Champion in the 1500m, threw down his signature kick in the closing seconds of the final to take the crown for Team USA.

In the early stages of this highly anticipated final, the Indiana native found his spot in the mid-pack just behind fellow Americans Hobbs Kessler and Yared Nuguse and slowly made his way up to be within striking position of the gold. There was not a single moment when he was in the clear however, especially during the last 125 meters of the race, as Norway's Jakob Ingebrigtsen, who was already duking it out with Great Britain's Josh Kerr, responded to Cole's initial move to take the inside of Lane 1. This did not deter Hocker however, as he attempted to take the rail once again in the last 50 meters and succeeded to secure the gold, clocking a scorching new personal best of 3:27.65 that would also break the old Olympic Record. This is also his first time going under the 3:30 barrier in the event.

Just behind him as well, Kentucky native Yared Nuguse, found himself on the podium as the bronze medalist in the event. Michigan native Hobbs Kessler also rounded out Team USA with his fifth place finish.
