Mathison Sets Indiana Indoor Mile Record

The list of accomplishments continues to grow for Indiana's best.

Carmel Senior Kole Mathison, only a few weeks off from making the US national team for the first time, arrived back on the track Saturday for an indoor mile in Boston.

New Balance hosted the Indoor Grand Prix meet and in the junior boys mile, Mathison was able to place 5th in a time of 4:07.68.

The time for the full mile beats the record previously held by Izaiah Steury of Angola when he ran 4:07.23 for a 1600.

Mathison will take one more break from the track before his season continues as he will head to Australia for the world cross country championships to represent team USA.

Mathison will be fresh off another Indiana record as he continues to add to his legacy as one of Indiana's all-time best.
