Henselmeier Runs State Record in the 400

There is a new indoor state record holder in Indiana and her name is Kate Henselmeier

The Senior out of Center Grove High School, who was 7th in the 400 meter run at last year's outdoor state finals, has just broken the indoor state record at the same distance.

Henselmeier competed at the Arkansas High School Invitational over the past weekend. She placed second in the finals of the event in 55.24 seconds which you can see in the video below.

Astonishingly, Henselmeier's best time and new state record actually came in the prelims of the event when she raced to a 55.19 to qualify for the final, just 0.05 seconds faster than her finals time. Both times are good enough to give her the title as new indoor state best in Indiana.

The performance just edges out the previous state record time of 55.36 from Amaya Turner in the 2020 indoor season.

Henselmeier's time of 55.19 currently sits as the 4th best in the nation at the time of this meet.

As a returning all-stater and 3rd highest placing returner, look for Henselmeier to continue climbing the ranks and potentially add more hardware to the trophy case this season.
