Indiana State Meet Records Watch List

Boys Pole Vault
Current Record: 17-6.25 Colton Crum 2018
Cody Johnston has proven his ability to clear that 17 foot bar, clearing it 10 times this year both indoors and outdoors. At the regional meet just last week, he cleared 17-6 to move him up to tied for No.3 all-time in Indiana history and just a quarter of an inch off Colton Crum's state meet record of 17-6.25 from 2018. It looks like it will be the Johnston show out there, as he is seeded 2 feet above anyone else, so he will likely be spending a good portion of the afternoon taking jumps alone. How much higher will he attempt to go? Likely only he knows the answer to that, but it would be safe to say he's got his sights set on at least a jump of 17-6.5.

Boys 4x100m Relay

Current Record: 41.02 Gary Roosevelt 1982

After the performance we all saw last week at Region 3, it should be no surprise that this record is a hot one to keep an eye on. The Brownsburg squad of Cooper, Handy, Heldman and Calhoun became the first Indiana squad to drop under 41 seconds for the relay. This squad features a sophomore, 2 juniors and a senior, so whatever they run on Friday could very well only be a best mark for one year, as the thought would be that the three returners will only get faster and the Bulldogs will have another athlete primed to step into that spot for next year.

Boys 100 Meter Dash

Current Record: 10.31 Jerome Harrison 1981

Jasiah Rogers from Park Tudor has shown that this is going to be his year. Last year he was 12th in the prelims in the 100. Last week at the regional meet he dropped a massive state lead with a 10.30, which puts him No.3 all-time in state history. This record is one of the longest standing records in the boys meet history. Extreme weather conditions usually are not the best for sprinters, and it will be HOT on Friday during both the trials and the finals. If Rogers can replicate his performance from last week, we will finally see this record move into the 21st century.

Boys 400 Meter

Current Record: 46.99 David Neville 2002

Nayyir Newash-Campbell took over the all-time state best mark earlier this year, running a 46.67 at the sectional meet. So it will be of no surprise if he is able to dip under 47 seconds again and break Neville's 21 year old record. He will definitely need the strong field that is set to race with him to help push him that little bit that will be needed/wanted.
