Highlights From IHSAA Girls Regionals

The IHSAA Girls Regional produced some outstanding performances heading into the State Finals next Friday at Indiana University.

We will have more profiles coming over the next week plus of the state finals.

But first, let's take a look at some of the best overall performances.

  • Ramiah Elliott - North Central (Indianapolis) - The all-time great is seeded #1 in the 100m (12.00), 200m (24.68), and 400m (54.89). She was the winner of each at the Bend Davis Regional. Her quest to win three individual events looks strong even though she is no lock with the current talent in Indiana.
  • Addy Wiley - Huntington North - Another all-time Indiana great is seeking three individual titles as well. She ran an outstanding solo 4:37.98 in the Regional to go along with a 2:14.78 and 10:46.88 in the 800m and 3200m runs, respectively. She is also listed on their qualifying 1600m relay team.
  • Nicki Southerland - Delta - Southerland is seeking to disrupt Wiley's triple with some amazing performances of her own. She was the 1600m and 3200m champion in her Regional with outstanding times of 10:23.96 and 4:48.72.
  • Reese Sanders - Cathedral - Sanders is qualified in multiple events but looks very strong to defend her 300m success with a Regional best of 43.53 to win the event.
  • Michelle Nazarov - Zionsville - Nazarov jumped 18-09.25 to win the long jump in her Regional. Although she has some stiff competition right at 18-09, she still is in great position to repeat as the state champion.
  • Emily Nannenga - Kankakee Valley - Nannenga jumped a huge 5-09.25 to win the Portage Regional and come in with a decent gap on the field to try and win a state title for the KV Kougars.
  • Hadley Lucas - Bloomington North- Lucas is sitting #1 in both the shot and discus coming into the state meet.  Although she will have some tough competition in the shot, she has huge marks coming of 46-11 and 161-09, respectively.
