The throwing events at the 2022 IHSAA State Track and Field Champions promise to be explosive and might feature some of the state's overall top talent. The list starts with all-time and state meet record holder Tucker Smith of Columbus North. Smith bested the old state meet mark with at least five of his throws in event. Leo Maxwell from East Central will try to upstage Smith as the best overall thrower in the state as he comes in ranked #2 in the shot and #1 in the discus. It promises to be an epic battle between those two outstanding throwers all season.
