Hocker edging teammate Copper Teare to nab 3000m win

The 2021 NCAA DI Indoor Track & Field Championships took place this weekend in Fayetteville, AR.

Former Catherdal distance standout Cole Hocker was amongst those competing.

Hocker, now a sophomore at Oregon, was entered into the mile and 3000m. On Friday, he cruised through the mile prelims, dropping a 3:56.57. That advanced Hocker to the mile finals on Saturday.

Hocker would kick off Saturday with the mile, where he would run a blistering 3:53.71 and win his first collegiate national title. Hocker's time of 3:53.71 set a new meet record.

About an hour later, Hocker would toe the line in the 3000m. He would stay up front all race and closed the last 200 in 25.49 edging out teammate Cooper Teare for the win.

Hocker would tally up 20 points for the Oregon men, and helped secured the team title with his 3000m win.
