Regional #1 at Crown Point will feature two of the state's best runners in Highland's Lucas Guerra and Lowell's Karina James. Guerra's time of 15:35 in the sectional is the 18th best boy's time in the state, and James's best time of 18:10 is good enough for the 17th best girl's time in Indiana.
Crown Point and Lake Central should have a tight race for the regional championship in both boys and girls. Crown Point and Lake Central each earned boys and girls sectional championships last week.
Led by James, Lowell could also make a run for the girl's title. Hobart, Highland, and Munster should have a very close battle for the last fourth, fifth and sixth in the girl's race, while Hanover Central has an outside chance of advancing as well.
Expect Munster to advance in the boy's race, with Hanover Central, Illiana Christian, Lowell, and Hobart fighting for the last two transfer spots into semi-state.
